What is Botox?
Botox is an injectable derived from Clostridium botulinum. It temporarily forces relaxation in the facial muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox is a virtually painless and an easy way to minimize or remove the following types of wrinkles.
- Eye wrinkles: the crow’s feet that gather when you smile or squint
- Forehead lines: the lines that appear when you lift your eyebrows
- Between brow lines: the lines that appear when you frown
Botox gradually takes effect, and you’ll typically see results within a few days. It reduces and prevents wrinkles in the treatment area for three to four months on average.
What are fillers?
Fillers are another type of injectable, but they’re different than Botox because their goal is adding volume to specific areas of your face. Often, volume loss is related to the normal aging process, but some patients want fillers because they just aren’t happy with their natural volume level.
